Locklan Gilbert, his wife Irena, their adorable daughter Ava, along with their beloved dog Odin, have embarked on a thrilling new chapter in their lives. They’ve traded the hustle and bustle of city living for the freedom of the open road, setting off in their 21ft Amaroo caravan.
As they explore the vast and diverse landscapes of Australia, they will be sharing their adventures with the world. From breathtaking coastal vistas to rugged outback trails, they’re eager to discover hidden gems and create unforgettable memories.
After completing their initial three-week journey from Melbourne to Perth, Locklan, Irena, Ava (and of course Odin) will be taking shorter trips over the next 9 to 12 months. This will allow them to share the best weekend getaways near Perth, including family-friendly and dog- friendly spots, as well as hidden local gems that their audience may not have heard of.
Next year, the Gilbert family is planning a grand adventure to the Kimberley and the Gibb River Road.

The saying “life only starts when you hit the road” really resonated with us. With so many incredible places in our backyard, having the comfort of a caravan makes exploring them so much easier.
Right now, it’s all about Ms. Rachel on YouTube, as Ava is still very young, so games are a bit tricky at the moment.
Honestly, the Amaroo has more than enough space for everything we bring. If there was more space, Irena would probably just fill it with something else anyway!
If you can catch a good weather window in Exmouth during December or January, you can have the whole place to yourself! Just south of Ningaloo National Park, it’s perfect, and you can bring your furry friends along too.
We use Tiegear pegs and a long rope to create a makeshift zipline for him to run around while staying tethered. We make sure he gets lots of runs and playtime, and sometimes he even sleeps in the bed with us—so he’s definitely a bit of a princess!
I recommend the DJI Air series—super compact and easy to charge via USB, which is perfect for traveling.
Irena always handles the cooking, and my absolute favorite is her garlic pasta—it’s so good! We also love making pizzas on the Weber.
